GOtv Max Cup: Torres, Oblak to Lead Atletico Against Eagles Tonight in Uyo
Spanish LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid Monday confirmed the array of stars, including Fernando Torres to play the Super Eagles in the maiden edition of the GOtv MAX Cup billed for this evening at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
The game scheduled to kick off at 6pm is Torres’ last for the club,
Torres, who scored both Atletico goals on Sunday in the 2-2 draw with Eibar in their last LaLiga match of the season, is a club legend, having been named captain of the LaLiga giants at the age of 17, the youngest ever.
Jan Oblak, Juanfran, Gabi, are also part of the 20-man Atletico Madrid squad for the game in Uyo.
Also in the list are Ghana’s Thomas Partey, Victor Machin Perez known as Vitolo and Kevin Gameiro.
However, top stars like Antoine Griezmann, Joke and Diego Costa were left out due to preparations toward the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
“The LaLiga season is over and we’re going to play a friendly in Nigeria with: Oblak, Werner, Juanfran, Sergi, Montero, Solano, Jota, Rafa Muñoz, Thomas, Gabi, Vitolo, Toni Moya, Agüero, Olabe, Mikel Carro, JoaquÃn, Torres, Correa, Gameiro and Borja,†Atletico wrote on it’s Twitter handle yesterday afternoon.
The team finished runners-up to Barcelona to cap an impressive season, which also saw them win the Europa League trophy.
The Europa League champions 20-man squad for the encounter, which includes head coach Diego Simeone, promises to be a truly pulsating encounter.
