As the 2019 general elections draw closer, a group, Epe Division Indigenes has endorsed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for another four-year term in Lagos State.
This is coming as the group, which is representing all Epe indigenes expressed satisfaction on the performance of the Governor in the past four years, hence urged him to re-contest to perfect the good works that he has started.
Speaking at a ‘One Million Man March’ organised for the Governor yesterday in Epe, Lagos state, the convener of Epe Division Indigenes, Princess Bolanle Kazeem noted that Epe indigenes are proud of Ambode, being the son of the land and are optimistic that he would drive Lagos to be a cynosure of the international communities.
“We are here today to celebrate Ambode because he deserves the honour. He has taken the footsteps of his predecessors who have ruled Lagos from Epe land. We are glad he has not disappointed the Epe descendants and Lagosians as a whole.â€
Kazeem, who harped on the developments that have lifted lives in the community most especially in the area of infrastructure, health, new investments, tourism and safety amongst others noted that Epe division has attracted quite a number of new immigrants as a result of the developments caused by the governor.
“Away from Epe, other local governments and indeed all Lagosians can bear witness to the wonderful works of Ambode. So we expect that such a person deserves another opportunity to continue his good deeds especially now that Lagos is eying the third largest economy in Africa. We believe he can and he will do it.â€
In his words, the convener of Community Network Initiative, Otunba Tajudeen Abass stated that the essence of the march was to sensitise not less than One million people in the community to be part of the democratic process as well as encourage them to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
He said “the performance of our people in the last elections has not been encouraging, you can imagine that in the last election, only 129,000 people registered and out of those who registered, just 33,000 people voted. We want to change this trends such that we can at least get up to 500,000 to 1 million votes from Epe alone.
“We are happy and support Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the 2nd term bid. We hope to see more economic turnaround in the state as well as the final destination of first class tourist centre in Epe.â€
