PDP Elders Forum Vows to Aid Saraki Unseat Buhari

The Elders Forum of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, yesterday pledged their commitment and loyalty to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the state governor,  Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed and others over their recent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, even as they vowed not to sell the state to outsiders.

Also, yesterday, a PDP  caucus in the state under the aegis of PDP One Umbrella Project said that Saraki would accommodate all the members of the PDP either new or old as he defected to the party so as to dislodge President Muhammadu  Buhari government come  2019 general elections. 

The forum however pledged to work with Saraki, adding that, “Anyone who does not want to do so, does not have the interest of Kwara at heart because we will never sell the future of Kwara to the outsiders.Addressing a press conference at the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the spokesperson of the forum, who is also a deputy chairman of PDP in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Sanni said that, the defection of the notable leaders from

APC to PDP was a new dawn in the political journey to make the state better for the present and the incoming generations. 

According to him,  “I want to say that,  it is indeed a reunion of old and long-time friends and associates who have jointly contributed in no small measures to the development of Nigeria and a day we in the PDP have long anxiously waited for.”

Alhaji Sanni, who was flanked by the former deputy governor of the state,  Chief Joel Ogundeji,  former speaker of the state, of house of assembly,  Hon. Babatunde Mohammed,  the state PDP Women Leader,  Hajia Fatimoh Mogaji, Mr. Moses Ibiyemi among other PDP leaders said that,  when Senate President, Dr. Saraki, the state governor,  Alhaji

Ahmed,  alongside other notable Kwarans dumped the APC for our party,  PDP,  we knew that it was the best thing to do at this critical stage of our national life if this country must be salvaged.  

He added that, the returnees including Speaker and 22 state lawmakers and National Assembly members,  as we all are aware not as we are not  new in PDP, having served in various capacities on the  platform of the party and they parted their ways when  the party was facing certain normal challenges of a mega party like ours. 

 “Today,  I make bold o say that PDP has learnt its lessons and now reformed . The party has since imbibed the core values of internal democracy, entrenched discipline and designed mechanisms for resolving internal issues and position itself for electoral victory.

Sanni therefore declared: The PDP in the state,  is therefore prepared to work with Dr. Saraki, Governor Ahmed and anyone who does not want to do so,  does not have the interest of Kwarans at heart and we will not sell the future of Kwarans to outsiders.

 Also yesterday,  a PDP  caucus in the state under the aegis of PDP One Umbrella Project, in a separate press conference said that,  the Senate President, Dr. Saraki would accommodate all the members of the  PDP either new or old as he defected to the party. 

The coordinator of the group, Comrade  Ben Duntoye disclosed this in Ilorin on Friday  at a press conference.  

According to him, Senator Saraki is a seasoned leader,  dependable and trustworthy and will be fair to all so as to ensure electoral victory of the party  in the next year general election. 

Duntoye, who was a former Commissioner for Information under Saraki’s government, said that, Saraki defection and others leaders  of APC in

Kwara to PDP will in no small measure assist the party to dislodge the present government at the  center and we in Kwara cannot isolate ourselves and we must join hands with him to lead the nation to promise land. 

He therefore called on the members of the party in all wards and local government councils to remain steadfast, unshaken and loyal  to Saraki and PDP in Kwara state so as to take the party to a greater height.
