The Bishop of Anglican Communion, Aguata Diocese in Anambra State, Rev. Samuel Ezeofor has abolished masquerades in the activities of the diocese.

Ezeofor, who was represented by the President of Aguata Diocesan Council of the Youth Fellowship Nigeria (AYF), Mr. Moses Akam disclosed this at the weekend at the 13th AYF Bible Study Conference held at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Umunze.

At the conference, the bishop banned all members of the diocese from participating in masquerade festivals or even using masquerades during ceremonies held by the dioceses.

Ezeofor likened it to worshiping idols, thereby urging youths, already indulged in the act “to desist from idol worship and patronizing masquerades in the diocese. Such act will not escape punishment.”

On his part, the Vicar of the host church, Rev. Decency Chine, who conducted the Holy Communion at the conference, urged the youths “to serve God and place God first no matter the situation they face in life.”

According to him, serving God during one’s youth constitutes a bigger blessing than when it is done as a last resort, due to old age and weakness. So, there is no alternative to serving God. As a matter of fact, all our youths across the federation should know this.
