Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has commiserated with his Bayelsa State counterpart, Seriake Dickson, over the death of his mother, Mrs. GoldCoast Dickson.
In a condolence message to Dickson, Okowa described Mrs. Dickson’s death as “a great loss not only to Bayelsa State but Nigeria in general, given her invaluable contributions to the cause of humanity.”
The Delta State governor’s condolence message was contained in a statement in Asaba yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu.
He described the departed Mrs. Dickson as “a quintessential mother, devout Christian and community leader who devoted her lifetime to the service of God and humanity.’’
Okowa paid glowing tributes to the deceased, saying she was a good mother, and urged the Dickson family to take solace in the fact that the late matriarch lived to witness the enormous successes achieved by her children culminating in the emergence of Seriake Dickson as the governor of Bayelsa State.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I commiserate with my brother, friend, colleague and the Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, on the painful loss of his beloved mother,” he said.
He called on the bereaved family to uphold the cherished ideals of community service, kindness and generosity associated with the matriarch of the Dickson family and prayed Almighty God to repose her soul, and give the family, the people of Bayelsa State and Nigeria the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
