Stop Action against Accused, Widow of PDP Chieftain Tells Police
Martins Ifijeh
The widow of the late former Chairman of the Apapa Local Government Area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Adeniyi Aborishade, Mrs. Silifat Olabisi Aborishade, has called on the Nigerian Police Force to release with immediate effect the five accused persons in their custody, saying they are innocent in the murder of her husband.
She said the five detained persons are the complainants, who were not in any way responsible for the death of her husband who died of gunshot injuries July 21, 2018 at First Consultant Hospital, Ikoyi.
Stating this in a petition sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State CIID, Panti, recently, Aborishade said the police have turned the complainants into accused for reasons best known to them.
The five accused are Dr. Amos Alabi Fawole, Kehinde Fasasi, Rotimi Kujore, Fatai Adele and Ismaila Abiola.
According to her, “The news of the above named persons’ detention at the State CIID Panti, Yaba, and subsequent conviction of charges of conspiracy/murder came as an utter shock and surprise to me, as same appears hasty and laced with malice.
“It is in view of this I hereby withdraw/ discontinuance of further, and, or any action against the five accused in this matter as I see no reason or reasons why they should be convicted, refused bail, and detained at the Ikoyi Prisons where they are currently being held in custody,” she said.
