The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Bauchi South Senatorial District by-election, Lawal Yahaya Gumau, is leading in four out of the seven local governments.
Gumau secured landslide victories in Bauchi, Dass, Kirfi and Toro, according to results obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  data centre.
The results showed that Gumou was leading other contestants including Ladan Saliu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Isa Yuguda of the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN).
Lawal  polled a total of 38,958 in Bauchi, 30, 658  votes in Toro,  11,051 votes
in  Kirfi,    and 7,432 votes in Dass.
Meanwhile, no fewer than 15, 017 votes were cancelled in Bauchi local government area.
This was disclosed on Sunday by the returning officer for Bauchi Local Governemnt Area, Professor Sani Mohammed Husseini.
Explaining the reasons for the cancellation, he said: “All the reasons why they were cancelled were over voting as a result of the fact that
the number of registered accredited voters fell short of those that actually voted. The cancellation was done by all party agents. Another reason for the cancellation was that there was mutilation of results.
Others include non-usage of card readers. The electorate decided to by-pass the machines”.
