PR Expert Preaches Promotion of Inclusiveness

Promotion of inclusiveness and diversity within the workplace of public relations practitioners has been identified as one of the best ways of fostering unity and ensure open-mindediness among the members.
The Chairman, Elder’s Committee in the Bauchi State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Alhaji Maigari Mohammed Khanna made the remarks in a paper presentation at the chapter’s monthly meeting on ‘Managing Diversity in the workplace, the Public Relations option’.
Khanna said creating a workplace where different perspectives are valued and embraced would go a long way towards ensuring productive business relationships.
According to him, seeking advice, ideas and expertise from colleagues would improve communication for a more inclusive organization culture.
The Chairman of the Elder’s Committee said the best way for public relations practitioners to promote diversity in their workplace is to familiarise and ascertain their colleagues on a personal level, regardless of their culture or background.
Khanna recalled that, most of the public relations research has re-inforced public relations role as an organisation’s champion for diversity.
Also speaking, a member in the Elder’s Committee, Alhaji Inuwa Bello commended the executive for their commitment towards improving Public Relations activities in the state.
Earlier, the Bauchi State NIPR Chairman, Alhaji Kabir Ali Kobi solicited the support of members to achieve the set objectives.
