The Democratic People’s Congress (DPC) has said it will hold nationwide ward congresses on September 13, while the Local Government Congresses and State House of Assembly Primaries will be held on September 15.
In preparation for the 2019 general elections, DPC also said the party’s House of Representatives primary is to hold on September 19, while Senatorial Primaries will take place on September 22.
Also, State Congresses and Governorship Primaries of the party will hold on September 28.
Also DPC has fixed the National Convention and Presidential Primary for October 6 in Abuja.
In a statement issued by the National Chairman of DPC, Rev. Olusegun Peters, the party said it is determined to provide progressive leadership in the country in the renewed efforts at building a better nation.
Peters added that Nigeria is at the crossroads and needs the prayers of all compatriots to navigate this trying time in the nation’s political process.
According to DPC, the need to build a strong, virile, progressive and equitable democratic society cannot be overemphasized, adding that it requires the efforts, sacrifice and patriotism of the populace.
“DPC urges politicians to seek the interest and progress of the nation at all times and avoid overheating the polity which could impede our hard-won democracy,” the party said.
The party also used the opportunity to felicitate with Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.
“The occasion is a remembrance of the submission of the Prophet Ibrahim to Allah by which he taught adherents the value of sacrifice.
“DPC urges Muslims to rededicate themselves to the service of Allah and the fatherland and pray for peace, unity, love, tolerance and progress of the nation ahead of the crucial 2019 general elections,” the party added.
