NACJ Honours Ortom, Joke Silver, Bishop Idahosa, Others
The sixth Annual Integrity Lecture/Award organized by Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ), will resonate this October with a few eminent Nigerians who have been nominated for the highly coveted Integrity Award.
The Award which comes in various categories is given to leaders to encourage the Spirit of integrity in every strata of of the society.
This year, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State will be honored as the Integrity Man of the Year, while Nollywood Super Star, Joke Silver, will be decorated with the prestigious Woman of Integrity Award.
Other eminent personalities that will be equally honoured include, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, the Founder/President, Illumination Assembly International; Sir Chikwe Udensi, APGA gubernatorial flag bearer, Abia State; Sir Marc Wabara, former Hallmark Bank Boss; Apostle Chibuzor, General Overseer, Omega Power Ministries; Senator Usman Umar and Chief Godwin Ogbaga, one time Minister of power and Steel.
Others include 9ice, Nigeria’s sensational singer who is nominated for the Pricey, Young Person of Integrity of The Year Award; High Chief Eden Duke, former Minister of Tourism; Rt Hon Cosmos Ndukwe, Deputy Speaker, Abia State; Rita Nkiruta Okoro, a marketing communication expert and Chief Executive Officer, Esthymike Limited; Mrs Ijeoma Onyeri, Deputy Director, Downstream DPR and Dr Phillips Lenka.
In addition, a special attention in this year’s event is that a few media practitioners, top editors of some of the national newspapers will be conferred with professional integrity award, which is an automatic recognition as senior members and Ambassadors of the Association.
The theme for the event is “Integrity is Everything.” The doyen of Nigeria’s journalism and the symbol of journalistic excellence, Mr Ray Ekpu, will deliver the Keynote address tagged: Integrity, the Key Factor for Building a Virile Nation.
Top government functionaries, captains of industries, celebrities, and eminent personalities will grace the occasion and celebrate the men and women of integrity in our midst today.
A statement from the organisers, signed by its Secretary, Charls Okhai reads: “Today, nations all over the World are yearning for men of integrity to occupy their corridors of power because integrity is the cornerstone of good leadership that ensures a healthy society. Fostering integrity, preventing corruption in all sectors are essential to maintaining trust in governance and infrastructural developments in a society like ours.
Against this backdrop, Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists is poised to encourage and acknowledge integrity against corruption as she rolls out drums to celebrate a few Nigeria’s illustrious sons and daughters who have been able to hold on to the virtues of integrity in their daily life style as leaders.”
