Spreading Love Through Music
Vanessa Obioha
Right from her younger days, Mariam Haruna wanted to be a musician. She knew she got what it takes to be a music star. At a tender age, she relished those moments when she will be called upon to entertain friends and family members. Those days were an indication that her talent really was music.
But she found herself studying Library and Information Science when she got an admission at Bayero University in Kano. Notwithstanding, she promised to attend a music school to hone her skills. The opportunity however came 12 years ago when she finally got the chance to record music through a family friend.
Now that she has finally found her voice, the singer who goes by the stage name Maira Claire is ready to storm the industry. Managed by Stage Rave Entertainment, she described her kind of music as inspirational.
She said: “I don’t want to call it gospel because it will put me in a box. Inspirational allows you to express yourself in different ways. I’m more of a soul singer. I want my music to heal wounds, spread love and give people hope for a better day. “
Her inspiration she disclosed comes mainly from God and her surroundings.
“I can’t start my day without penning some thoughts. It keeps me going”, she said. Her lyrics reflect her belief, experience and roots, embracing the essence of her life from an urban perspective. Two of her singles ‘You Are’ and ‘Your Mind’ are already on the airwaves.
