Following the official release of its governorship primary election result, the Niger State All Progressives Congress (APC) has boasted that it is already ahead of all other governorship candidates by 150,000 votes come 2019 elections.
The former Edo State governor Lucky Imasuen announced the result of the election on Monday evening during which he said Governor Abubakar Sani Bello who was the sole candidate was affirmed by 150,859 registered members of the party in the 25 local government areas of the state.
Imasuen submitted that the votes represented 50 per cent of the total number of registered members of the party in the state, adding that: “This is the actual figure of votes cast. We could have cooked up figures but we refused to do so because there was no need for it”.
Reacting to the declaration of the result, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Jibrin Imam, described it as “a true reflection of what has happened on the field. We are already 150,000 votes ahead of other political parties in the governorship.
The APC chieftain said that the election “will be a rematch with Umar Nasko”, the standard-bearer of the PDP but boasted that “we will floor him again”.
The APC however did not make public the result of the presidential primary conducted in the state, saying Abuja will announce the final result.
