The Prof. Abubakar Faki-led committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Zamfara State Governorship Primary has  cancelled the election held in the state due to malpractices, including snatching of election materials and result sheets, allegedly by state government officials.

In a statement issued Thursday by the acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena,  the party said the process was also marred by violence.
“Subsequently, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has approved the cancellation of the governorship primaries. A new date will be announced soonest,” it said.
The NWC reiterated its commitment to free, fair and transparent primaries across the country.
There were reports that the primary election in Zamfara State was marred by violence in some parts of the state, with the state governor, Abdulaziz Yari, alleging that insufficient election materials were provided for the exercise.
Six governorship aspirants were cleared to contest in the Zamfara State primary. They include Ibrahim Wakala, Sen. Kabiru Marafa, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Aminu Jaji, Abubakar Magaji and Mohammed Hamidu.
