Female Photographers Lead Lagos Photo Festival
By Vanessa Obioha
As the push for gender inclusion continues to ripple across the globe, the Artist Arts Foundation will be showcasing works from.emerging photographers in the ninth edition of Lagos Photo Festival.
The artists who come from France, Italy, Ghana, South Africa, Myanmar and Nigeria, will be displaying images that resonate with the festival’s theme: ‘Time Has Gone’.
The theme according to the organisers seeks to visually explore how the past, present and future interact with one another.
Also curating the festival this year is a team of four illustrious women, established in their various career fields: Eva Barois De Caevel, Wunika Mukan, Charlotte Langhorst and Valentine Umansky. Their curatorial discourse unearths the non-linearity of time and the complexity of our experience to memory.
Now in its ninth year, the festival will have a grand opening at Federal Printing Press, Broad Street, Lagos Island, and will run from October 27 to November 15. The visual arts will also displayed at galleries am public spaces across the city of Lagos.
Some of the photographers that will be exhibiting at the festival include Malala Andrialavidrazana (Madagascar/France), Sandra Brewster (Canada/Guyana), Kwena Chokoe (South-Africa/Myanmar),
CrazinisT (Ghana/Togo), AdjiDieye (Italy/Senegal),and Ndidi Dike (Nigeria).
