Musa Lends Support to Amputee Eagles
Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia attacker, Ahmed Musa has added his voice in support of the ongoing fund raising campaign by Nigeria’s Special Eagles, to enable them participate in this year’s Amputee Football World Cup.
Although Musa led the way in ensuring the Super Eagles contributed over N6m to the team before Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo last weekend, the stand-in captain has now gone ahead to call on all soccer loving people across the country to give more to the amputees.
Footballlive.ng reports that the Amputee Eagles are drawn in the same group with Brazil, Russia and El Salvador, but the team are cash-strapped and hampered in their plans to fly out for the competition in Mexico.
After missing the past two editions due to similar constraints, the squad cannot afford to miss out this time, as they would be suspended by the global body, and Musa says more Nigerians should support them.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnnick promised the team N2.5m and an additional $5, 000 for their efforts of travelling out early, in order not to miss their opening game against Brazil.
Aside joining his team mates to contribute handsomely to the amputee team, Musa has now urged other Nigerians to give in various formats.
Musa added: “We know the condition of the country now but I am going to call on everyone who has the passion for the sport to support them with any amount.
“Apart from that, we also all have to give them all the support that they need. We can also pray for them and wish them the best of luck.”
Wolfsburg Clash with Bayern Live on StarTimes Today
Exciting football league continues this weekend with unbeatable live matches from the Bundesliga season as Wolfsburg battles it out with Bayern Munich at the Volkswagen Arena today on StarTimes (Channel 254 and 245).
Wolfsburg will attempt to snatch three points from Bayern Munich when they go head to head today.
Sixth placed Bayern Munich with 13 points from seven matches will battle it out with Wolfsburg, who have gathered nine points from seven games.
After winning his first seven matches in charge of the club, Bayern Munich Head Coach, Niko Kovac has now failed to guide his side to victory in three domestic games on the spin – a run that leaves them four points behind early Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund
Kovac has cited Bayern Munich’s failure to play as a team as the reason for their shock 3-0 home defeat to Borussia Mochengladbach. Kovac’s men looked sluggish from the outset and found themselves two down after just 16 minutes, Alassane Plea and Lars StindI making his first appearance of the season finishing emphatically past Manuel Never.
Robert Lewandowski had a goal ruled out for offside in the second period but any dramatic comeback from Bayern would have been harsh on the visitors, who were deserving winners and added gloss to the score line late on through Patrick Herrmann.
Also in action this weekend, Stuttgart will host current table topper, Borussia Dortmund at the Mercedes Benz Arena by 2:30pm African time on the same day.
