IBHS to Organise 80th Anniversary
The Ibadan Boys’ High School (IBHS) would mark its 80th anniversary beginning with Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral of James The Great, Oke-Bola, Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to a statement made available to THISDAY by the Chairman, Publicity/Publications Committee of the Anniversary, Mr. Kayode Awobadejo, the Thanksgiving Service would followed by a road show by members of the IBHS Old Boys’ Association from the Church to the old Odeon Cinema to the School Premises where a career talk for the current Students would begin at 2p.m.
The statement explained that also on the October 25, there would be a medical outreach at the School Premises for the neighbouring community by medical practitioners among the old boys; unveiling of the bus of the founder, late Chief Timothy Lajide Oyesina, the Are Onibon of Ibadan; a drama presentation and Jumat Service at the Ansar Ud Deen Mosque, Ososami, Oke Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Statement said: “The grand finale will be held on October 27, with the inauguration of the projects undertaken by the old boys, including a new sick bay, E Library, paved driveway, and new gate/gate house and perimeter fence; social for current students, staff (teaching and non-teaching) old boys and Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA); launch of a commemorative magazine and awards’ presentation and fund-raising. Old Students are expected from around Nigeria and abroad while one of the founding Principals, Obi of Ogwashi Uku, Prof. Chukwuka Okonjo, has indicated his attendance.”
