Prominent Ogun west leaders under the aegis of stakeholders on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday, reaffirmed their unflinching support for the governorship candidacy of Hon. Adekunle Akinlade in the 2019 general elections.
Rising from their senatorial district meeting held at Ilaro, Ogun State, the APC leaders which included Alhaji Yakubu Ajayi (chairman), Chief Kayode kajebora (Secretary), Sen Iyabo Anisulowo, Chief M.A. Olagbaye and Chief Jide Ojuko, commended Governor Ibikunle Amosun for standing firm and steadfast in the struggle for the “Ogun West for governor agenda”, culminating in the mandate of Akinlade as the APC gubernatorial candidate in Ogun state.
Besides, the Ogun West APC stakeholders seized the occasion to express their recognition for the governorship primaries that was held on October 2 which produced Akinlade as the candidate of the party.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the stakeholders noted that they were surprised that the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party from Abuja could declare Prince Dapo Abiodun as the standard bearer of an election that was never conducted.
However, the communiqué expressed appreciation to the two revered monarchs (the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle) for their peaceful and amicable approach to the intra-political imbroglio rocking the party in the state during their visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso rock on Monday.
However, the stakeholders tasked the lawmaker representing the district at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Sen. Gbolahan Dada, the three members of the House of Representatives and of the State House of Assembly to make their positions known concerning the “Ogun West for Governor agenda” or else they would disown them as being part of the agitation.
