Women’s wing of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have passed a vote of confidence on National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The Edo APC women also denounced the State Organising Secretary of the party, Dr. Aisosa Amadasun, for claiming to be speaking on behalf of the women that the APC has been polarised over the conduct of the primaries.
The former Organising Secretary of the party, had in a media briefing, castigated the APC NWC led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, for not given women fair chance in the part primaries that threw up candidates for the 2019 elections.
She complained about the exorbitant fees to purchase intent form slammed on them by the party leadership which according to her did not give women the chance to aspire.
However, in a press statement signed by Edo State Woman Leader of the party, Mrs. Betty Okoebor, said Dr. Amadasun should have followed due process to express her grievances instead of choosing to pour abuses and false accusations on the party and its leadership.
Okoebor urged the women to ignore the anger and frustration displayed by Amadasun but to work for the victory of all the party candidates in 2019 general elections.
She called on the State Working Committee of the APC to invoke relevant disciplinary measures and sanctions in dealing with the indiscipline and anti-party activity displayed by Amadasun.
According to her, “We must not allow ourselves to lose focus because of disloyal and ungrateful people in our midst.
“We wish to debunk her false claims and to state in clear terms that she does not have the mandate or authority to speak on behalf of the women of our party.
“All the men and women who expressed interest in running for various positions could not all have emerged as candidates. Those of them who have genuine concern have availed themselves of the well-established channels that the party provided for dispute resolutions,” She added.
