Fashola, Nnaji, Abaribe, Others for Power Safety Summit
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN); Professor of Robotics Engineering and former Minister of Power, Barth Nnaji, and former Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Power, Godknows Igali, are some of the high profile power industry experts that would speak at the forthcoming Power Safety Summit and Exhibition on November 27 to 28, 2018, in Abuja.
The summit, expected to attract stakeholders from across the power sector value chain, both within and outside Nigeria, according to the Media Adviser of the Summit, Charles Ozoemena, will take place at the prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Other confirmed speakers for the summit are Permanent Secretary (Power), Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, Prof. Louis Edozien; Chief Executive, Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), Peter Ewesor, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Professor James Momoh, and Managing Director and Chief Executive, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Chiedu Ugbo.
Also, Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe; Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Engr. Ernest Mupwaya; Director Risks and Compliance of AEDC, Mulenga Collins Chabuka; the Commandant-General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Alhaji, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu among others are also expected to grace the event.
Chairmen of the sessions are: Managing Director 4Power Consortium, Mathew Edevbie; MD/CEO Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed; Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MOJEC, Ms Chantelle Moji Abdul, and Group Head (Generation) of Sahara Energy Group, Mike Uzoigwe.
The Power Safety summit, according to the organisers, is endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing; Nigeria Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA); Nigeria Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) and Transmission Company of Nigeria.
Others are the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Association of Power Generation Companies (APGC), Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED), Licence Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria (LECAN) and Electricity Meter Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (EMMAN).
According to Ozoemena, the summit which was earlier postponed due to some circumstances would witness the gathering of key players of power utility companies from across the world, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professionals, engineers, top government functionaries, regulatory agencies, the organised private sector, consumers of electricity and other critical stakeholders to appraise issues of health, safety and environment in the power sector value chain.
It was also learnt that the theme of the 2018 Power Summit and Exhibition is ‘Vision Zero Incident in the Power Sector Value Chain’.
