Introducing the ’54 Counts’ Collection by Hoodies and Stones
Hoodies and Stones clothing brand was established in 2017, birthed out of a creative mind to ensure that the African identity does not fade away and as well targets the Africans (home and in diaspora), Westerners (non-natives), the Asian market.
According to its creative director FADIPE Adedamola Olaniyi, the idea is to ensure a blend between Western fashion and African fashion hence, the name Hoodies and Stones.
Considering the fact that the hoodie is one of the most common and valuable Western outfits and how Africa has the most priceless gems (stones), therefore the idea is to incorporate these Western wears, not limited to hoodies only, into the valuable African culture.
However, In the early 90s, finding a young indigenous designer in Nigeria to make fashionable pieces and at reasonable prices was almost unfathomable.
Fast forward to 2010s and the years after and the situation has completely changed for the better.
At the alarming rate at which the fashion industry is growing, one wouldn’t be surprised if this industry eventually becomes one of the big earners of our Gross Domestic Product.
