Frank Onyeka Living His Dream

He has always craved to play in the Premier League, but for the Blues of Chelsea, however, when newly promoted Premiership side, Brentford came calling, it was still a welcome development for Frank Onyeka. Whether the one-cap Super Eagle can re-enact his form with FC Midtjylland in the most competitive league is another question altogether

If things go as expected, one-cap Nigeria international, Frank Onyeka will be a Bee next season after Brentford are in talks with the midfielder as the Premier League newcomers close in on their first summer signing.

The 23-year-old, who has one cap for Nigeria, plays for the Bees’ sister club in Denmark, FC Midtjylland.
Onyeka impressed for Midtjylland in the Champions League group stage last season, and as the club finished runners-up in the Danish Superliga.
As Thomas Frank and his recruitment chiefs, Phil Giles and RasmusAnkersen look to strengthen the squad this summer, they believe Onyeka is ready for the move to England.

A financial agreement between the clubs is expected to be a simple to conclude given both are owned by Matthew Benham.
The Bees also want to strengthen this summer at right-back, right centre-back, midfield, on the wings and at centre-forward, as they prepare for their first season in the Premier League.

Onyeka once admitted he dreams of playing for Chelsea, but it was Brentford that has been the front runner even while they are still a contender for Premier League promotion.
Quizzed then about the Bees, Onyeka told bold.dk: “No, I have not heard. I’ve not talked to my agent lately. I’m trying to stay focused on the Super League so I’ve said we can talk about it afterwards, but I’m excited about what the future will bring me.”
On Brentford’s style, he continued: “They play a lot on strength, and they run a lot. I think I will fit in well. I watch English football more or less every weekend because Chelsea is my favourite team. So, I’ve seen how they play in England and I think it suits my style well. It could be a good opportunity for me to switch there.”

Onyeka, 23, is coming up to his fifth year with FC Midtjylland. The Danes snapped up the midfielder from Nigeria’s Ebedei, which are a satellite club of FC Midtjylland. Since then, Onyeka has helped FC Midtjylland twice win the Danish Superliga in his burgeoning career.
In a lighthearted conversation with BeesottedBrentford podcast, Brentford Director of Football RasmusAnkersen was asked about the potential signing of Onyeka in the summer transfer window and he responded : “He’s a good player, where did you hear about him?”
Ankersen also works for FC Midtjylland, the team Onyeka has been representing since 2016, so there’s apparently a big brother-little brother relationship between Brentford and the Danish club.

There is a gentleman’s agreement in place for Onyeka to be sold in the summer transfer window after Midtjylland prevented him from joining a new club last summer because they needed his services for the 2020-2021 Champions League.
Ankersen joked that negotiations with Midtjylland would be tough as he dismissed suggestions that it is easy to bring players from Denmark to the Premier League.
He added : “It’s going to be a long, long conversation to have”.
Onyeka started all the six matches contested by Midtjylland in the Champions League and showed off his tackling abilities in the middle of the field.
Meanwhile, Midtjylland sporting director SvendGraversen expects Onyeka to make instant impact in the English Premier League.

The 23-year-old has been one of the top performers for the Danish Superliga outfit since arriving from Nigeria Nationwide League club FC Ebedei in 2016.
” It’s there. There is also something in the fact that he has the interest of a lot of clubs. Our evaluation of Frank is that he is ready for one of the big leagues,” Graversen told tipsblade.dk
” There one has to assess that the Premier League is perhaps the biggest, so he is ready for that. Then we must find the right solution, and he must not least think it is the right solution. Then we have to see where it ends.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder came through Midtjylland’s academy but Frank is said to believe that he is ready for a move to England.
The Super Eagles star hasn’t turned up for the Danish side’s pre-season preparations and has been removed from the club’s list of available players.
Onyeka joined Midtylland from FC Ebedei.

He started with the club’s U-19 team before making the grade to the first team, where he became one of the best midfielders in the Danish top-flight.
Onyeka made his first-team debut in 2017 and has gone on to score 17 goals and provide 10 assists in 123 appearances for the Danish club.

The Bees are signing a player with Champions League and international experience. Onyeka made his debut for Nigeria in the friendly clash against Algeria last year’s October. He also played in all of Midtjylland’s Champions League games.
Last year, the Nigerian midfielder was voted FC Midtylland’s Player of the Year after an outstanding season.

He scored four goals made two assists in 35 appearances in all competitions for Midtylland in penultimate season.
His impressive performance helped the club clinch their third league title which they last won in 2018.
