Firm Announces Winners of Book Reading Competition

Bookville World has announced the winners of its just concluded reading competition, which aimed to enhance the reading habit among children.

According to the organisers, the competition was initiated to encourage reading for pleasure, as well as an avenue to spice up literature and give children an incentive to open a book.

The fourth edition of the exercise held from May to June 2021 in Port Harcourt and produced over 100 entries from where Ariella Anwana of Aladumo International School emerged grand prize winner.

Onyeka-Daniel Ivana Blessing of Federal Government Girls College Abuloma came second in the contest while Nekuojo Osahenrumwen Omelikamu of Teko School clinched the third position.

Speaking, Ever Obi, acting Managing Director of Zedvance Finance, a major sponsor of the contest stated that the company keyed into the initiative as part of its commitments to promoting reading culture amongst Nigerian students.

He added that the move was also to encourage parents and the society at large to prioritize primary and secondary education for their wards, being pivotal to nation-building.

He said, “Part of the goals of United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development is quality education (Goal 4). The objective is to eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and children in vulnerable situations before 2030.

“As a corporate organisation, we have decided to launch a campaign themed ‘Readers are Leaders’ to support and drive the actualization of SDG 4 (quality education). Between 2019 and 2021, we have provided writing materials, television sets, fans and other academic items for many public schools across Nigeria. We have also done the same for students at special education schools.”

Also speaking, Chief Executive Officer of Bookville Integrated Resources Limited, Mrs. Nkem Asoka commended Zedvance Finance for the support and urged other corporate organizations to also give more support to the education sector.
