Fresh off the set of ‘Ayinla’, her recent production, filmmaker Jadesola Osiberu is pushing out back-to-back behind the scene footages from her forthcoming directorial titled “Gang of Lagos”. Principal photography is ongoing and the filmmaker isn’t sparing her followers details of the process as she excites her fans. One of her posts revealed “Gangs of Lagos” features Muiz Sanni of Ikorodu Bois. She followed with details confirming Fuji veteran Pasuma in the forthcoming feature film will play the character named London.

One of her posts shows Adesuwa Etomi-Wellington and Tobi Bakre lead a group of gangs, costumed in dreadful black outfits as they march on in a supposed mission to attack another rival group. Wave making artiste, Chike (‘Boo of The Booless’) is also on the set. The filmmaker had taken to her Instagram page to post pictures of the celebrities, which she accompanied with lengthy information about the new project, introducing their characters with a little background story from her 2016 fan-favourite series ‘Gidi Up’.

The new movie is inspired by real-life characters. According to her, Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, reality TV star Tobi Bakre, and RnB singer, Chike will play the roles of Obalola, Gift and Panama respectively – the three best friends who grew up in the rugged areas of Lagos Island. In a recent post, Osiberu shows off a cast being led on set by a superstar dancehall artiste as they rehearse. ‘Gang of Lagos’ marks a number of firsts. It will be Bakre debut lead role and Etomi’s first production since taking a maternity break.

‘Gangs of Lagos’ is produced by Kemi Lala Akindoju and directed by Osiberu. Jade had given a look at one of the film’s locations, a rooftop in Isale Eko, where she was inspired to write the story five years ago. “2016, I shot a scene from Gidi Up season 3 on a rooftop in Isale Eko and I was inspired to write a film about a group of friends who grow up on the streets of Isale Eko. Fast forward five years and we’re standing on that very same rooftop, shooting a scene with best friends Obalola (Bakre, Gift (Adesuwa) and Panama (Chike) in Gangs of Lagos.

“Really grateful that I get to continue my on-screen love affair with Lagos, the city we all share a love/hate relationship with but we all acknowledge, there’s nowhere in the world quite like Lagos!” The action has Eniola Badmus, Iyabo Ojo, Yvonne Jegede, among others on set. Osideru produced the highly acclaimed blockbuster “Sugar Rush”, which also featured Adesua Etomi. A former software developer, Osiberu switched her career path to filmmaking, and has since then gone to flourish in the industry.
