The Ekiti State House of Assembly has promised legislative backings to the state Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and security agencies to contain the rising wave of kidnapping in the state.

The Assembly’s Chief Whip, Hon. Bunmi Adelugba, stated this in Emure Ekiti, Emure Local Government Area of the state, last Saturday when he inaugurated some projects in the town.

Some of the projects built and donated by Hon Adelugba to Emure community included two blocks of classroom to Emure Government Science College; Skills and Entrepreneurial centre and an ultra-modern toilet facility donated to the Emure Police Station.

Adelugba, who represents Emure state constituency in the Assembly, said the 26 lawmakers in the Assembly are resolute in supporting Fayemi to improve the standard of living and ensure security of lives and property of the citizens in the state.

“This entrepreneurial centre was built and equipped with sewing machines, gas cylinders, cabinets, knitting machines and other training tools for our youths to acquire skills for self-employment.

“The level of unemployment in our society is so alarming and has been identified as one of the major reasons for kidnappings, which is a condemnable act. We must not just send our children to school; we must also train them to be self-reliant. These projects were carefully executed based on the yearnings of my people,” he stated.

Also speaking, the Assembly Speaker, Hon. Afuye, and the Chief of Staff to the governor, Mr. Biodun Omoleye, commended the lawmaker for conceiving the projects that could impact humanity and security positively in the state.

Afuye said both the executive and legislature must work harmoniously to initiate policies that would help the security formations to tackle killings and kidnappings in the state.
