Obiano, Oye, Umeh Lead Soludo’s Campaign for Anambra Election
Despite the exclusion of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, from the list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the November 6 Anambra State governorship election, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has gone ahead to constitute his governorship campaign team.
In the approved list of the campaign council signed by the National Chairman of APGA and made available to THISDAY yesterday, the state Governor, Willie Obiano, chairs the Soludo National Campaign Council while APGA National Chairman, Victor Ike Oye, is the deputy.
Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu is the director-general of the council, while Primus Odili is the campaign secretary, Finance and Administration.
In the statement, APGA National Publicity Secretary, Tex Okechukwu, said the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke; National Secretary, Dr. Labaran Maku; former National Chairman, Senator Victor Umeh; former state Deputy Governor, Chinedu Emeka, all members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) and all current members of the National Assembly, are members.
At the state level, Chinedu Obidigwe is deputy general manager, operations, strategy and security, while C. Don Adinuba is in charge of media and communication.
The former CBN governor is strongly proposed by APGA as its candidate, but INEC listed Chukwuma Umeoji as the party’s candidate, which Festus Okoye, the commission’s national commissioner, explained that it was based on court order.
When THISDAY sought to know the reason behind the decision to forge ahead with the campaign for Soludo, a source at the party headquarters said the leadership is very confident that INEC would reverse its position in due course, and that Soludo will still fly the flag of APGA during the governorship election.
