‘Blame Lack of Adequate Education and Exposure on Nation’s Insecurity’
By Omolabake Fasogbon.
The lack of adequate education and exposure which culminated in the stunted development of some parts of the country has largely been blamed for the debilitating insecurity plaguing the country. This has also promoted conflict and a lack of understanding amongst the various segments of the Nigerian society. However, our contributions as an association passionate about people development would help bridge this gap and ultimately create better understanding amongst Nigerians from the different regions of the country.
This assertion was made by Mr. Harrison Sam-Amoye, an executive council member of the Association of Professional Facilitators and Trainers in Africa (APFTiA) during the commemoration of the association’s second year anniversary which recently took place in Lagos with a grand finale scheduled for December 2021.
According to Mr. Sam-Amoye, “APFTiA is meeting the capacity building and development needs of the nation” noting that “as manpower is developed in terms of competencies, so would productivity and service delivery be positively impacted for businesses and organisations. This he said, “will contribute immensely to the Nigerian economy and nation-building”.
As part of the anniversary celebration, Mr. Sam-Amoye told reporters that the association had two webinar sessions bordering on re-positioning for better performance for trainers and facilitators adding that “our plan is to have a programme towards the end of the year for all members; continue to grow and transform people; meeting the current needs of individuals and organisations while also preparing for their future developmental demands”.
On what informed the need for the association, the APFTiA council member noted that “many organisations usually have challenges with getting external facilitators as there was no specific place where facilitators could be sought”
Consequently, according to him, it became apparent that the question of ensuring standards and quality was a major concern for businesses. As he puts it therefore, “we have spent the last two years building a solid foundation and our second-year anniversary marks a take-off point with the registration of APFTiA Learning and Development Academy for members and third parties, boasting that “we will be the best in whatever we do”.
Speaking on the strength of the organisation, Mr. Amoye said, APFTiA with its head office in Lagos, Nigeria, has members in Lagos, Oyo, Abuja, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers states adding that outside the country, “we have members in South Africa, Canada, Uganda and Kenya”.
