Medical Tribunal Sanctions 20 Doctors

The Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal has imposed sanctions on doctors found guilty of various infractions.
The tribunal which looked into cases of misconduct between 2019 and 2021 found three doctors guilty of gross misconducts and directed the Registrar of the Council to erase their names from the register of Medical Practitioners in Nigeria.
The affected doctors are Dr. Yakubu Hassan Koji of Jimeta Clinic and Maternity, Jimeta Yola; Dr. Sunday Elusoji of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and Dr. Stephen Oludare Alaiyemola of Philndelphia Specialist Hospital, Apapa, Lagos state.
The Tribunal also found the following doctors guilty of misconduct(s) in a professional respect and suspended them from practice for periods stated against their names.
They include, Dr. Umaru’ Nasiru Ibrahim of Al Noor Clinic and Maternity, Angwan Rogo, Jos Plateau State. (3months suspension), Dr. Nwikwu Mezie Vitalis of De Vital Care Hospital, Oojo Lagos State (6months suspension). Dr. Jamilu Muhammed of Martha Bamaiyi General Hospital. Zulu, Kebbi State (6 monlhs suspension), and Dr. Godwin Chukwuma Maduakor-Federal Medical Centre Asaba, Delta state (6 months suspension).
Others suspended were Dr. Anunobi Chijioke Ralu of Federal Medical Centre Asaba, Delta State (6 months suspension).
The tribunal further convicted and admonished five other doctors and discharged nine others whose cases were struck out for lack of merit.
