IBEDC Mourns Okunbo, Says His Legacy Will not be Forgotten

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc, has described as shocking the news of the passing of Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, saying he was its esteemed investor and pioneer.
Okunbo died on 8 August, 2021 in the United Kingdom at 63.
The distribution company in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Olatunde Ayeni, and made available to THISDAY, said late Captain Okunbo with his sagacious business acumen was extremely pivotal to the establishment of IBEDC and was very involved in piloting the smooth growth of the company to the enviable heights it had achieved.
According to him, “His chain of businesses spanned across the gamut of hospitality, security, real estate, oil servicing, and agriculture. A renowned and accomplished business mogul, who contributed immensely to the development of the Nigerian economy by providing jobs and substance to thousands of his fellow country-men and women through his diverse and extensive businesses.
“We have lost a distinguished Nigerian, an illustrious businessman with a heart of gold”
Ayeni said while describing Capt. Okunbo as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding philanthropists, said his death had created a huge vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
He then urged the family and friends of the late Okunbo to take solace in the fact that the legacy of the deceased will never be forgotten, praying for the repose of his soul and that the Almighty grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
