Man ‘O’ War Restates Commitment to Youth Development

The Man ‘O’ War, Nigeria, GRA Unit of Oyo State Command has restated its commitment to youth development, just as its urged government to devote time and resources to the segment of the population.

Coordinator of GRA Command, okadonor Austen made this known when the volunteer outfit marked its 25th anniversary in Ibadan Oyo state, recently.

The well attended event saw the outfit reflected and reviewed its activities in the past 25 years, as well as released plans for future years.

Speaking at the function, Austen reiterated the interst of the outfit on youths education and empowerment , whom he said are the hope the country.

He stated that youths development has always been at the heart of the outfit that has guided its programmes and decisions.

He explained that so far, the outfit had contributed to supporting youths in area of employment and education, and intends to expand its quota and areas of interventions.

He said, “Through series of leadership training, men and officers of the command has assisted youths to secure jobs in military outfit like the Army, civil defence and Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), amongst others.

“Also in the area of education, we have been able to assist the less privileged but active and brilliant members in registering for NECO exams and made them attend extra moral classes.

He stated that the outfit had been relevant in tackling insecurity, maintaining orderliness and enforcement of sanitation, amongst others, adding that it will continue to do more in the interest of Oyo state and dwellers.

While divulging future plans, Austen said the outfit hoped to have recruited 500 members in 10 years, with at least 50 members per year.

“More importantly, we hope that by then, we would have more than enough graduates amongst us and produce not less than 50 members in the Nigeria Paramilitary system.

He craved government support for the outfit especially by way of sponsoring members for advanced training, empowering and absorbing members into key positions in the state.

Some highlights of the programme included friendly football match, lecture and recognition of members.

One of those recognised was President of Association of Certified Fraud Examiners,ACFE (Lagos) Prof. Godwin Oyedokun, who was also elevated to the rank of the Assistant Commander iand installed as Adviser.
