Bayelsa Gov, Diri, Rewards Oborududu with N4m

Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, has showered Nigeria’s silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with the sum of N4million.

The incentive was in fulfillment of the governor’s pledge to always reward the state’s representatives at major sporting event both local and international.

Aside the Olympian, the governor also doled out cash to the Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queen who both emerged champions of the 2021 Aiteo Cup for the men and women.

Oborududu clinched the silver medal in the women’s wrestling freestyle event after she lost in the final to an American athlete.

Ever before the Olympics, the governor was the main supporter of the country’s wrestling team. Under the watchful eyes of Bayelsa’s Sports Commissioner and President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali, the wrestlers found home in the state.
