Lagos Rotary Club to Build Ultramodern Library in Two Lagos Schools

The Rotary Club of Lagos has disclosed plans to build an ultra-modern library and block of classrooms in Lafiaji and Oke-Suna Senior and Junior Secondary Schools to aid teaching and learning in the schools.

The club’s President, Rotarian Babawale Agbeyangi, made this promise in Lagos at the launch of the club’s Robotic Capacity Building Programme in the schools recently.

Agbeyangi described the planned donation of a library and block of classrooms as one of the club’s efforts at supporting the state government in its efforts at enhancing the education sector in the state.

While stressing the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) in today’s world, the president encouraged the students to seize the opportunity of the robotic equipment to develop their future careers.

He described the STEAM initiatives as part of the organisation’s Project Future, its suite of educational initiatives, aimed at bringing smiles to the faces of the people.

Also speaking at the event, the Senior Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Education, Ms Adetola Salau, encouraged the students to take STEAM seriously, to enable them “fix the challenges facing Nigeria today”.

In his response, the school’s principal, Mr. Egharevba Folorunso David, expressed the school’s gratitude to the club for its consistent support.

He assured the organization of the school’s readiness to put the facilities to good use, while also ensuring their proper maintenance.

The club also put smiles on the faces of the visually-impaired community as it donated music workshop equipment and a freezer to the Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind (FNSB) to help improve the learning experience of students.

The donation was presented to the society’s Chairman, Mr. Olugbolahan Sobande.

The items donated included an electric guitar, a semi-acoustic guitar, a drum set, a brass trumpet and a chest freezer.
