Oluwo Confers Chieftaincy Titles on Dele Momodu, Wife

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has conferred honorary traditional titles of Aare Tayese of Iwoland on Publisher/CEO of Ovation Media Group, Chief Dele Momodu, and Yeye Aare Tayese of Iwolaand on his wife, Mobolaji Abiodun Momodu.

In a letter dated August 27, 2021, Oba Akanbi said the Oluwo in Council considered Momodu and his wife worthy of the honorary traditional titles.

The Oluwo, who is the deputy chairman, Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers, noted Momodu’s immense contributions to the promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition, good governance in Nigeria, and journalism in Nigeria, Africa and beyond.

While noting Chief Momodu’s connections across all sectors, Oba Akanbi expressed optimism that the conferment of the chieftaincy titles would bring development to Iwoland.

In his acceptance letter, Chief Momodu thanked the Oluwo for the honour, and assured him that he would continue to make contributions to national conversations and development through media practice, entrepreneurship, and social and political networking.

“We consider this an exceptional privilege and are gratified by the recognition you have accorded our contributions to national conversations, growth and development, through the prism of media practice, entrepreneurship, and the fostering of national understanding via social and political networking,” Momodu said.

“Be rest assured that we will continue in this regard, while additionally bearing the new titles in mind, especially as a further call to cultural and traditional exposures, in line with our desire for national revival,” the prominent journalist said.

Though a date has not been fixed for the formal conferment ceremony, October 2, 2021 has been proposed for the approval of the Oluwo in Council.
