Teach For Nigeria (TFN), a non-profit organisation, has inducted 269 fellows/teacher-leaders as the fifth cohort of its fellowship programme at the 2021 Pre-service Summer Training Institute.
The Teach For Nigeria Fellowship is a leadership development programme that equips fellows with transferable leadership skills to effect change in classrooms.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the in-person training, the CEO of TFN, Folawe Omikunle, disclosed that the organisation recruits Nigeria’s most promising graduates every year, engaging them in an intensive pre-service training institute and placed them in underserved schools.
According to her, a faculty of seasoned educators and experts had trained the fellows.
On her part, co-founder and board member of TFN, Alero Ayida-Otobo, compared their two-year fellowship with the analogy of a butterfly, expecting them to positively transform the children in their communities.
In his keynote address, TFN ambassador Bankole Wellington advised the fellows to invest in themselves and be intentional about being a part of the success stories of all the children they would be working with over the next two years of their fellowship.
