Police Arrest Bandits’ Informants with 80 Rustled Animals in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has apprehended three suspected bandits’ informants and middlemen with 80 suspected rustled domestic animals along the Funtua-Gusau Road.

The suspects, according to the police, were Rabi’u Usman, 35; Sa’idu Shu’aibu, 38 and Awwalu Abdullahi, 40, who are residents of Wanzamai village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Parading the suspected informants alongside 26 other criminals, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Gambo Isah, said that the suspects were nabbed while transporting the animals (goats and sheep) in a canter van canter, with registration number, ABS 647 XA.

Isah explained that the suspects also flouted the Katsina State Security Containment Orders that were recently signed by Governor Aminu Bello Masari and his Zamfara State counterpart, Governor Bello Matawalle.

His words: “On September 7, 2021, at about 17.00 hours, the command succeeded in arresting Rabi’u Usman ‘m’ aged 35 years, Sa’idu Shu’aibu ‘m’ aged 38 years and Awwalu Abdullahi ‘m’ aged 40 years all of Wanzamai village, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state. They are bandits’ informants and middlemen.

“They also flouted the containment order emplaced by the state government by conveying 80 suspected rustled animals comprising sheep and goats in a canter, lorry with REG. NO. ABS 647 XA driven by one Aliyu Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 32 years of Kurmin Mashi, Kaduna State.”

In the course of investigation, he said, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and further stated that they were conveying the animals from Zamfara forest to Abuja.
