Eko Turns on for Independence Day Show

To commemorate Nigeria’s 61st Independence anniversary, the Lagos State government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, will host the Eko On Show festival at the Muri Okunola Park on October 15, 2021.

The full-on exhibition of the rich cultural heritage and values of the people of Nigeria through arts, fashion, music, and food, will showcase the works of creatives from the various aforementioned fields with hopes to rekindle the spirit of patriotism while positioning Lagos as the choice destination for tourists the world over.

“It is in the spirit of hope and optimism that Lagos has continued to break new grounds and achievements,” said the commissioner for Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, And Culture, Uzamat Akinbile Yusuf, in her address.

“This event is about sending a direct message to the entire world, that Lagos, apart from being a land of creativity and innovation, is also the soul of entertainment, fun and relaxation, that is rich in culture and hospitality. The show will  feature an exceptional experience of good music, fashion, food, and dance extravaganza.”

Musical acts confirmed for the festival include Ara, Teni, Dede, Davido, Tiwa Savage, D’banj, KWAM 1, Shina Peters, and other indigenous acts. It will also parade an array of established and up-and-coming comedians.

With the focus on boosting the local economy, Eko On Show will be opened to artisans to sell their merchandise, thus increasing visibility for their brand.

The hybrid event will welcome a ballpark figure of 500 persons to the park putting into consideration COVID-19 guidelines, as well as stream the live festivities to millions around the world.
