Sanwo-Olu, Dare Sign on for Ajunwa’s Golden Anniversary

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Sports Minister, Sunday Dare, will join other top dignitaries to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Chioma Ajunwa winning the women’s long jump Olympics gold at Atlanta 1996.

Also on hand to grace the occasion billed for tonight at the MUSON Centre on Lagos Island are former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi and Prince Ned Nwoko a sports philanthropist who will spearhead the launch of a N6billion Sports and Youth Development Centre being championed by the Chioma Ajunwa Foundation in conjunction with the Ikukuoma Foundation.

“We are all set to go for this event which will celebrate sports excellence and champion the cause for grassroots development.

“During the course of our going round the country in search of talents, we discovered that there are many kids who are just wishing to participate in sports. This is why the Chioma Ajunwa Foundation and the Ikokuoma Foundation are on the drive to raise awareness for grassroots development,” said Prince Henry Amike, former Nigerian 400m hurdles champion and record holder.

Amike who is director-general of the Chioma Ajunwa Foundation called on Nigerians to support the initiative to develop Nigerian youths through sports adding that Nigeria, through this effort can boast of Olympics champions in the near future.
