ATTACK ON THE ABUJA-KADUNA TRAIN

The report on how bandits attacked a train on transit from Abuja to Kaduna last week has further buttressed the audacity and cruelty of these criminals. The Kaduna-Abuja road has become too dangerous to motorists, compelling them to look for alternative routes. Many travellers have been forced to patronize the train transport service believing it to be safe. With the exception of few hitches, there had been no report of bandits’ attack since the train service was launched. But with the unfortunate attack and destruction of rail tracks, the train service which is patronised by the ordinary people is no longer safe. Are there other alternatives for travellers to the nation’s capital now? Some people may suggest air transport. But how many people can afford the ticket?

Even though the tracks had been fixed the bandits or whoever attacked the train last week may likely return, hence the need for the train services to be fully monitored. There is need to safeguard it through adopting proactive security measures.
