Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday visited the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at his residence in Abuja.

Tinubu had earlier this month returned to Nigeria after spending over three months in London on medical vacation.

However, the details of their meeting yesterday have not been made known, but photos released by the Office of the Vice President showed the two men embracing and later discussing while seated.

Recent media reports had indicated frosty relations between Tinubu and Osinbajo over the 2023 presidential race.

Both are believed to be aspiring to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, whose second term ends on May 29, 2023.

Though the duo have not formally declared their aspirations to succeed Buhari, groups canvassing for them are emerging across the country.
However, a member of the Tinubu Support Group, and the Acting Director, Media and Publicity of the group, Mr. Tosin Adeyanju, said Osinbajo’s visit was an indication that Tinubu’s political family is united.

According to him, “Today’s visit by the Vice President shows there is no problem and people should not listen to rumours.”

Another member of the group who pleaded anonymity said though some interests were pushing Osinbajo to run, but added that he doubts if he would ever run against Tinubu.

He stressed that the visit was an indication that the group is united and there was no conflict of interest.
