Redeemer’s University Holds Convocation, Confers Honorary Doctorate Degree on Olanipekun

The Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State will hold its 13th convocation on November 4, where 450 undergraduate and postgraduate students would be awarded degrees.
Addressing journalists yesterday on the campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Akinlo, said Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) would be conferred on honorary doctorate degree of Letters (D.Litt) (Honoris Casual) in recognition of his astute leadership qualities and his immense contributions to the nation’s educational development.
He said the set, tagged as the “Dunamis Class,” has been raised as global leaders and change agents imbued with God-fearing attributes; adding that they are distinct brands.
The Vice Chancellor explained that 381 graduating students will be awarded undergraduate degrees while 69 will bag postgraduates degrees.
Akinlo revealed that aside from offering scholarships to members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), the university has also extended the scholarship to foreign students.
He said students from Pakistan, Jordan, Philippines, Rwanda, Libya and Bangladesh were offered admission into various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
“Another history was made by the university on Sunday, September 19, 2021 when it was pronounced as Nigeria’s best private university and research at the star-studded 15th edition of the prestigious Nigerian Media Nite-Out Award (NMNA) held at the Ikeja Airport Hotel, Lagos,” he said.
While reeling out some of the achievements of the school in the last one year, Akinlo said the National Universities Commission (NUC) has fully accredited programmes in the faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Human Anatomy, Nursing Science, and Physiotherapy adding that English and Theatre Arts in the Faculty of Humanities, Law and Psychology were accredited in the Faculties of Law and Social Sciences respectively.
