Ondo APC Congress: We Didn’t Receive Any Petition, Says Appeal Panel

The All Progressives Congress’s (APC), State Congress Appeal Committee for Ondo State, has upheld the results of the recently concluded Ondo APC State congress, which produced Mr. Ade Adetimehin, as chairman alongside 35 others as new executives.

The five-man Ondo APC Appeal Committee members comprised of Mrs. Yetunde Aeniji, Mr. Olusegun Adesegun; Hon. Bunmi Victor; Mr. Cletus Obun and Mr. Adamu Dauda, made this known during a press briefing at the state’s party secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

The Chairman of the Appeal Committee, Mrs. Yetunde Adeniji, said: “In line with the provision of our party guidelines for the nomination and emergence of party candidates in respect to the just concluded state congress election, which took place on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in Ondo State. The APC inaugurated an appeal committee for state congress but the five-man panel did not receive any petition since its inauguration and our arrival to Ondo.”

The Appeal Committee Chairperson noted that with the absence of any appeal, it showed that the congress conducted in Ondo and supervised by the Chairman of the Ondo APC Congress Committee, Hon. Komsol Longap, was an acceptable one.

” We are very impressed by what we have seen in Ondo State, in other states, we have learnt of parallel congresses and chaos that has occurred, but Ondo State has been able to come together with relevant stakeholders and synergise themselves into one family, they have been able to solve issues unanimously among themselves, irrespective of their different views,” Longap said.

She also commended the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, for setting a pace for other leaders to follow in their respective states.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the APC State Chairman-elect, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, who was represented by the Deputy Chairman, Agabra Ikoto Atili, express gratitude to members of the Appeal Committee for a job well done.

“Ondo State is a unique state. This is the only state that you see that the congress is from the ward to the state were held without rancor and we have been extending this even to governance.

“Decisions were taken base on collective system of leadership, we don’t do it alone but come together to disagree and agree,” Adetimehin said.

Also Adamu, one of the committee members said that “with what we have witnessed here, we could clearly see that the state government operated independently while the executives of the party also operated independently.

“However, they tried as much as possible to create a synergy that will foster the unity of the great people of Ondo State, we are grateful to be part of this wonderful people, we have been treated well and we look forward to a greater and more beneficial relationship.

“As Ondo State remains united, I hope that the national body will also find a way to reach out to aggrieved party. I can attest that Ondo State is a very wonderful state and it’s a shining example to the rest of the states in Nigeria, as far as APC is concerned.”
