The Zaar/Sayawa community in Bauchi State has appealed to the state government to relocate the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area headquarters from Bununu to its constitutional place in Tafawa Balewa town, saying it was long overdue.
The President of the Zaar Development Association (ZDA), Isua Galla, made the appeal during the 2021 annual cultural festival known as Lemp weekend, which was held at the Tafawa Balewa Central Primary School in Bauchi.
Galla said since the assumption of office as the president of the association, a lot of development has been recorded, particularly in regards to the peaceful coexistence of Zaar people with other tribes within his domain.
According to him, “We have succeeded in restructuring the ZDA which has further cemented the relationship between Zaar people and other communities living in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro LGAs of Bauchi State.
“This association has been through a journey of struggles, perseverance and sacrifice under my stewardship. Since January 1, 2018, and the tenure elapsed on December 31, 2021. Last two years, it was quite challenging, not only to the Zaar nation, but to our dear country economically and security wise-we are still battling these issues till now.
“Despite these challenges, the Zaar nation is in a complete demystified era. From the past, Zaar Development Association under our leadership, has been able to bring new ideas for development on the bedrock of fairness, transparency, accountability, action and result-oriented. Our watch word has been critical responsibility of ZDA, which is the development of our people and our community.
“We also stood our ground to make sure that our voices and cry must be heard. The issue of the Zaar chiefdom and the relocation of the headquarters of Tafawa Balewa LGA is a cry that is long overdue. Our struggle and aspiration as a people has been to be recognised and that every son and daughter of Zaar must be have justice and a sense of belonging. We are not in slavery for crying out loud.”
Galla who commended the state Governor, Bala Mohammed, for executing meaningful projects that have direct bearing on the lives of his people, described him as the Zaar-friendly governor.
