Aguero Positive Amid Retirement Rumours Due to Heart Condition

Sergio Aguero has addressed reports he could be forced to retire due to a heart condition by insisting he is “always positive”.

The Barcelona striker has been ruled out of action for three months after suffering chest pains during a match against Alaves at the end of last month.

He underwent cardiac tests at hospital as a precautionary measure but Catalunya Radio has recently reported he may need to consider retiring given the seriousness of the issue.

Responding on Twitter, Aguero said: “Amid the rumours, I’m telling you that I’m following the indications of the club’s doctors, undergoing tests and treatment and seeing my progress within 90 days. Always positive!”

The 33-year-old was withdrawn before half-time during the 1-1 La Liga draw with Alaves on October 30 after receiving treatment for several minutes.

He left the ground in an ambulance and in a later statement, Barcelona said: “He is unavailable for selection and, during the next three months, the effectiveness of treatment will be evaluated in order to determine his recovery process.” Aguero has scored one goal in five appearances for Barcelona since signing from Manchester City on a free transfer this summer.

Argentina manager Scaloni hopes a full recovery can be made by a player that is going through “something no-one deserves”, with well wishes from South America being sent to the Barcelona striker on the back of retirement talk surfacing.

Scaloni told reporters when asked if he has been in contact with a man that has 101 caps and 41 goals for Argentina to his name: “Regarding Kun, yes, we’ve talked and we’ve sent each other messages.
“Besides him being a player, he is a boy we appreciate a lot.

“We are sad because he is going through something no-one deserves.
“We hope he recovers and could be playing as soon as possible. We send him all our support.”
Aguero could be forced to hang up his boots after suffering a heart arrhythmia which was detected by doctors following some chest discomfort he experienced during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Alaves at the Camp Nou on October 30.

The Argentine striker signed for Barcelona in summer, but an injury sidelined him at the start of the season and he has managed to make just five appearances for the club.
According to Catalunya Radio, Aguero’s health issue could force him to retire, and he is already aware that his situation in serious.

Following the incident against Alaves, Barcelona released a statement to inform fans that Aguero will be sidelined for three months.
“Sergio Aguero has undergone a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure by Dr. Josep Brugada,” read the statement.
“He is out and for the next three months the effectiveness of the treatment will be evaluated to determine his recovery process.”
