Managing Criminal Intrusion (1)

This article is not a digression into the legal sphere, but a conscious attempt into what has become a common practice in our everyday society and could be of severe security consequences.

I recalled William Shakespeare once said in the tragic drama – Macbeth – posited that “ Security is mortal’s chiefest enemy. This position was later expressed centuries after by Lord Radcliff in his report to the English House of Commons in 1911, when he stated that “The simplest great threat to security is the lack of conviction that any threat exists” or “It would never happen to me”.

The writer of this article having dissected most challenges that people experience as a result of the criminal act/s of INTRUSION discovered that the crime was happening to people in most cases due to absence of PREPARATION.

I did listen to victims statement when they said I didn’t expect such to happen to me. Lack of consciousness, taking certain things for granted which could result in severe security implications. Failure to plan they say plan to fail. Imagine a case of intent to steal, where a man broke into a neighborhood flat through a chimney, with intent to steal there valuables, gained entry and met the couples having a hot carnal knowledge.

The scenario attracted the thief that he got carried away enjoying the dramatic sex romance, forgot about his intended criminal plan, not until the couples noticed that there was an intrusion, put on the light and saw it was there neighbor, the couple was lucky to overpowered him, got him arrested , he was prosecuted and imprisoned.

This and many other cases of criminal intrusions occur every day to victims. This article equally looked into consequences and way forward.

INTRUSION IN A RESTRICTED TERM: Intrusion in a restricted term refers to the act of intruding or the state of being intruded, especially: the act of wrongfully entering upon, seizing, or taking possession of the property of another, or the unauthorized entry, access, possession and or usage of the property of another which might as consequence result to criminal actions being taken against the intruder.

Often times, people use the term intrusion and trespass interchangeably, to mean the same thing.

Intrusion also involves peeping, snooping, or prying into private places; it’s also a crime to open a mail, without the prior permission of the owner.

TYPES OF INTRUSION: Intrusion could be in different forms, but a few have been highlighted below, to include:

ROBBERY: This is one salient manmade threat which often involve the use of instruments of intimidation and coercion by a party(ies) against another parties with the aim of compelling the victim party to concede his to her property in question the offender party. They use instruments like gun, knife, sward, cutlass, grenade or other dangerous objects against victims to yield to their (robbers) demand. Robbery is also the crime of seizing third party through violence or intimidation. It is also taken or attempting to take something of value from another by violence or the threat of violence. It is a felony in all states as it is committed against individuals, business and institutions like banks. Threatening people on the street with a baseball bat and demanding all their money and jewelries is robbery, even if the person is not injured or pushing and elderly person down on the side walk to steal his or her purse is also regard as robbery.

PIRACY: it is conceptualize as another type of robbery, as it negates INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY and COPYRIGHTS LAW. Piracy is used to describe the nefarious activities of offenders who steal the works of other people especially for money-making motives. Piracy usually involves a very violent act perpetrated by private parties of no government affiliation which has attracted so much public attention. It also involves all violent acts perpetrated on the seas but it does not include those criminal activities being perpetrated by passenger against some other passengers on the same vessel. It is an age long security threat which had attracted that penalty against the offender.

CAR-SNATCHING OR CAR-JACKING: This is the act of forcefully seizing and taking possession of the victims car by the crime offender with the use of dangerous weapon especially gun.

STREAMING: This is another type of robbery that usually involve criminal activities being perpetrated on underground trains. It is also describe as a violence perpetrated on train or bus passenger by criminal gang. The crime ranges from mild application or intimidation and the use of serious violence like rape, assault and murder.
