IATF 2021: Oando Boss, Wale Tinubu, Commends Organisers
The Group Chief Executive of Oando Group, Wale Tinubu, was among the business gurus and experts that were called to the podium in the opening days of the just concluded Intra-African Trade Fair in Durban, South Africa that was held November 15-21, 2021.
The businessman spoke on a high-level public-private sector roundtable focused on aligning the interests of government and the private sector on Intra-African Trade and Investment.
The session was aimed at addressing the initiatives, policies and actions required by government and the private sector to achieve the priority objectives including Public-Private Partnerships; the role of Development Finance Institutions and Export Credit Agencies in targeting investment and projects that would have maximum impact on Africa’s growth, trade and employment creation.
Tinubu spoke alongside Ambassador Albert M. Muchanga, Commissioner for Trade and Industry, African Union, and Dr. Mohammed Juldeh Jalloh, Vice President Sierra Leone.
Also, the oil and gas magnate delivered a keynote at the event’s ambassador dinner.
The GCE explained that he was encouraged by the attendance of many government delegates and Heads of State. While their presence signified not only their support of the event but the importance of intra-African trade and collaboration across the continent.
‘’I commend Afrexim Bank for orchestrating this much needed discourse and for leading the change to ensure development and inclusive growth on the continent. As we all, Africa has enormous potential and the attendance at IATF2021 reinforced that we share collective vision for the continent,’’ Tinubu said.
IATF is the key event boosting trade in Africa that brings together more professionals under one roof. IATF 2021 focused on the newly-launched African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) – a single market for goods and services across 55 countries, aimed at boosting trade and investment.
