News in Photographs: Tambuwal Visits State House, Briefs Buhari on Security Situation in Sokoto
Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal was at the State House Monday night to brief President Muhammadu Buhari on the security situation in some parts of Sokoto State.
The governor’s visit to the State House came on the heels of the visit by a presidential delegation to Sokoto led by National Security Adviser, Maj General Babagana Munguno (rtd) following the gruesome killing of 23 travellers by bandits in the states.
Tambuwal had told the visiting presidential delegation that the bandits’ attacks on the eastern part of the state was as a result of defective military operation in Zamfara where airstrikes targeted at bandits’ camps, without a proactive deployment of troops along the Sokoto-Zamfara border, had led to fleeing bandits running into Sokoto state and wreaking havoc on communities on their path.
The meeting between President Buhari and Governor Tambuwal held behind closed doors Monday night was expected to address the issues raised by the governor.
