As preparations by the 24 teams going to Cameroon for the AFCON hit the home stretch, Nigeria’s group stage foes, Guinea Bissau, have concluded plans to play host, Indomitable Lions in a warm up game before the tournament starts on January 9th, 2022.

The Djurtus are the dark horses in Group D where they face former African champions, Egypt and Nigeria but take on Sudan as well to determine the two qualifiers into the knockout phase.

According to Thursday’s edition of Cameroon Tribune, the host nation have named Guinea Bissau as team to play before their opening match of January 9th.

The paper also reported that Guinea Bissau are determined to have a decent outing at the tournament and this explains why they opted to play the host to keep them in good shape ahead of the matches against the big teams in group D.

Guinea Bissau who made their debut in the 2017 edition recognised how difficult it will be to make it out of the group stage.

The clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is seen as booster before they play the likes of Nigeria and Egypt during the main tournament.

The match is scheduled for the 3rd of January at the Olembe stadium venue of the opening match.

Guinea Bissau will open their campaign at the tournament against Sudan and three days later play Egypt before the match against Nigeria on the 19th of January.
