PDP Appeal Committee Upholds Bisi Kolawole’s Victory, Calls for Reconciliation of Stakeholders

After deliberating for over 90 minutes on the Ekiti State governorship appeal, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Appeal Committee yesterday upheld the election of Bisi Kolawole as the candidate of the party in the June 2022 governorship election.
Addressing journalists after its meeting, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the appeal committee headed by the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, agreed that the primary election conducted by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom was transparent.
He said the party also commended the winner, Bisi Kolawole and urged all aggrieved stakeholders to close ranks to enable the party win the June 2022 government election.
The PDP spokesperson said that the only correspondence received by the appeal committee was from Senator Biodun Olujimi who notified the appeal committee of her desire to withdraw from the governorship election because of no congress in two local governments which are part of her primary constituency
Ologunagba said that the national leadership of the party would take active part in the reconciliation and campaigns in the forthcoming governorship in the state
Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has approved Saturday, February 19 for the conclusion of its outstanding State Congress for the purpose of electing new State Executive Committee members in Lagos State.
The party disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature.
The NWC, according to the statement, also scheduled a crucial meeting with Lagos State stakeholders on Monday, February 7 at the Zonal Headquarters, Ibadan, Oyo State.
It added that the NWC would continue to update stakeholders on any development in that regard.
