APC Convention: Buhari Meets with Progressive Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari is about now meeting with the 22 governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting, which is being attended by the APC governors under the aegis of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), is expected to discuss the national convention of the party scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2022.
The PGF, led by Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, will brainstorm with President Buhari on the best way to hold a hitch-free convention during which new national officers will be elected to run the affairs of the party for the next four years.
Sources also said the president and the governors, during the meeting, will resolve the issue of whether or not to adopt a consensus candidate among the seven chairmanship aspirants ahead of the Saturday convention.
The president was said to have a soft spot for former Nasarawa State governor and current senator representing Nasarawa West, Abdullahi Adamu, to emerge as consensus APC Chair, while most governors were said to prefer allowing all the aspirants to slug it out at the poll on Saturday.
The governors are expected to brief newsmen at the end of their close-door meeting with the president.
