No fewer than three people have been confirmed killed with several others kidnapped in a terrorist attack on Rumache Madalla community in the Bassa/Kukoki ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of Thursday.

Confirming the incident in a statement made available to journalists the Concerned Shiroro Youths, an organisation saddled with the monitoring of the security situation in the local government area said many villagers were injured during the attack and are receiving treatments in several medical outfits around the area.

The statement jointly signed by Yusuf Abubakar Kokki and Sani Abubakar the co-conveners of the organisation  declared that: “Those who sustained multiple gunshot injuries are currently on admission at various medical facilities within relatively secured areas of the local government and are responding to treatment.

According to the statement, “the murderous and heartless terrorists in their large numbers and heavily armed with assorted sophisticated and dangerous weapons stormed the aforementioned village and unleashed mayhem on unsuspecting victims

“These rampaging criminals attack their victims at will, ironically and unfortunately in some cases without slightest hindrance, resistance or confrontation from the conventional security,” the statement said.

It lamented that the “defenceless, unarmed and peaceful locals have been crassly abandoned to their fate wallowing in perpetual agony.”

The Niger State Police Command and the state government are yet to react to the latest development.
