A leading Marketing Communications Practitioner and Non-Executive Director at the Troyka holdings,  Dr. Ken Onyeali-Ikpe, has expressed his disappointment over the manner in which the Muhammadu Buhari  administration is marketing Nigeria and the achievement recorded between 2015 till date.

He has also pointed out that proper SWOT analysis has revealed that the administration has done creditably well in some sectors but didn’t communicate the achievement with Nigeria in a proper way.

Speaking at the World Consumer Rights Day Symposium 2022 organised by the Brand journalist association of Nigeria (BJAN), with the theme; Digital Finance: Risks Opportunities and Challenges for consumers held in Lagos, Onyeali-Ikpe, itemised a few areas where the administration has done well but blame the handlers of its programmes and activities for the poor public rating.

“I was part of the team that worked on the strategies that positioned the All Progressives Congress for victory in 2015 and we recommended to the government how best to communicate with Nigerians but they derailed.  A good SWOT analysis, touching on infrastructural development, agriculture, electoral reformation, PIB and others, show some credible achievements but how were they communicated to Nigeria. Everyday, the government is busy reacting to frivolous issues instead of promoting its achievements with the best communication approach,” he said.

On his part, Dr. Oluseyi Akindeinde, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Digital Encode said a lot of the problems arising from the consumption of digital financial services showed that perhaps somebody somewhere is not doing his job, to validate technical applications especially in the area of glitch.

While calling for consumers to be responsible in their consumption, Dr Monday Michaels Ashibogwu, Executive Member, Association of Communications Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) said the consumer is the end user of any services provided and any service or product that do not have consideration for the consumer is fraudulent in the first place.

Also speaking, Bisi Oni, Executive Director/COO FundQuest Financial Services, said digital finance is finance aided by digital which has brought improvement in our financial services.
